Message from Bishop Mary Irwin-Gibson about the Action Appeal 2017 (scroll down to view video)

Dear Friend,

I am writing to ask for your support for the Bishop’s Action Appeal. I hope that you will be able to join with other people of this Diocese in strengthening two important ministries.

Thanks to your generous response to last year’s appeal, we were able to help St Michael’s Mission provide a warming center, which will be open this year from December 1–April 30, as well as do major repairs on their two refrigerators. We were also able to continue to support our vision of developing new expressions of church.

This year, we are focusing on two other important outreach opportunities. One is the Inuit ministry which has been headed up by the Rev Annie Ittoshat, whose community recently moved to the church of the Epiphany in Verdun. Your support will help her to meet the particular needs of this ministry to the Inuit population in prison, hospital and day shelters.

Another area of grave concern is the aftermath of the fires that ravaged The Territory of the People in the Central Interior of British Columbia earlier this year. As our friend Bishop Barbara Andrews told me recently, the indigenous communities, ranchers and small business owners are still suffering from the effects of this crisis. Your donation will help support the ministry to these people.

Please pray for the work of the church and give as generously as you are able. Call our office at 514-843-6577, or go to www.montreal.anglican.ca/baa2017 and click on the Donate button. Unless you specify otherwise, half of your donation will go to the Anglican Appeal, which supports ministry in Canada’s North and with our church partners overseas.

With my thanks, and every blessing,

The Rt. Rev. Mary Irwin-Gibson

Gifts of $10 or more are eligible for a tax receipt, which will be issued in February 2018.
