Christ’s Ambassadors

All of our churches sit in neighbourhoods. Some are downtown, others suburban, still others rural. Some are quite wealthy others less so. Often there are people around us in great need. Sometimes that material need, other times emotional and social need. is I ask you to join in prayer for our neighbourhoods and for  God’s help in directing our communities of faith to see the needs around us.

A Prayer for India from Bishop Mary Irwin-Gibson

Lord Jesus, send your holy spirit over this great country with all it's many needs and help them as they go through this pandemic. Send the help they need. Inspire those who are on the ground working as health care workers. Inspire all to take precautions to keep this virus from spreading. Pour out your spirit on the Church and give them fresh courage and fresh will.

Bring healing and comfort in Jesus name, Amen

Reconciliation

Sometimes we get things wrong. At times prejudice has crept into the lives of our Churches. Sometimes we have been blinded and not seen God’s call upon us. Let us pray together with hearts of repentance. For repentance helps us to turn away from what is wrong but also to turn towards God’s action in us and through us. At its core, repentance is about making ourselves open available to the gracious activity of God.

We will gather in a spirit of repentance to acknowledge discrimination and injustice in our communities of faith, and the ways we have not listened to God or others.

We will turn to God and ask for God’s direction for us.

Anti Black Racism Task Force Presentation to Synod May 2021

(Excerpt from the Bishop’s Charge 2021)

A task force was struck soon after and I am so very grateful for their hard work. Tomorrow you will hear more about what’s being planned. All of us in the diocese are asked to take on the work of education and increased awareness of subconscious and conscious attitudes and behaviours that undermine racial justice and equity in our society. I hold up the vision of the Kingdom of God from the book of Revelation where a great multiracial gathering worships the Lamb:

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Rev. 7: 9-10 ESV)

Synod Friday & Saturday, May 14-15

Join our Synod worship on Friday  and Saturday at 9am and 4pm Saturday and 9am and 12:45 pm Sunday. A Synod is a gathering of the representatives of the whole Church. We gather with people, clergy and our Bishop. It is an important time to renew our corporate life for another year.  So please join with us in praying for our Synod which represents us all. Pray for our Bishop and our clergy. They so need our urgent prayer. And pray for the people of our Diocese who hunger and thirst for more. The Spirit falls equally upon us all: may we all equally share the gifts God gives us.

Let us Give Thanks for the blessings we receive…
