You can get messy in the Laurentians, too! The Anglican and United churches in the Laurentians team up to get messy on the first Saturday every two months (the schedule changes in July and August). Did you know that many Eucharistic linens in our parishes are in a state of disrepair? Perhaps you, or someone you know, might consider helping out your parish in a meaningful way by repairing or creating these linens. If that’s the case, you are in luck! We are happy to announce the publication of On Pins and Needles: Caring for and Making Eucharistic Linens by Muriel Eaton. This is a terrific resource for Altar Guilds or anyone who is interested in picking up a sewing needle. We are so grateful to Muriel who worked tirelessly on this project, with immense passion and good humour.

“The diocese of Montreal’s Susan Winn was recognized for contributions that include membership of General Synod from 1998-2016, and of CoGS from 2004-2007 and 2010-2013. Winn also served as deputy prolocutor of General Synod from 2006-2007 and as lay secretary of the ecclesiastical province of Canada. While on CoGS, she chaired the eco justice committee for several terms.
Winn said she was surprised and very touched to learn she had been chosen for the award.
“My nomination came from my bishop and a close friend and their efforts on my behalf meant so much to me,” she said. “The church has been like home and family to me, with so many rewarding opportunities over the years to learn and to serve God and others. I have been so blessed.”
At the 2013 Joint Assembly, General Synod passed a resolution to “observe the Seventh Sunday of Easter, commonly known as the Sunday after Ascension Day, as Jerusalem Sunday.” For 2019, the theme for Jerusalem Sunday is Multi-Narrative Pilgrimage.
Jerusalem Sunday is an opportunity for Anglicans in Canada to learn more about and support God’s mission in the Diocese of Jerusalem.
