In Memoriam: Thomas Alfred Ramsey

The Bishop's Office regrets to inform you of the death of The Revd Thomas Alfred Ramsey, retired priest of the Diocese. Father Ramsey passed away on Sunday, April 22nd after a long illness.

Father Ramsey was born in 1922. Following studies at the University of Toronto where he earned a B.A., Tom worked as a civil engineer, building bridges. He was called into the ministry and after his education at the Dio)cesan Theological College, he was ordained priest by Bishop Dixon in 1955. Subsequent to his ordination, he became curate at Trinity Memorial then served at St Martin’s, Otterburn Park, St Stephen’s, Chambly, and St Margaret of Scotland in east-end Montreal. After his retirement in 1991, he continued to serve the diocese faithfully, doing supply work on the South Shore and continuing to do pastoral care, a key focus of his ministry, until his hospitalization last year.

Tom is survived by Margaret, brother James (Margaret), children David (Tracy) and Alison, and grandchildren Katherine, Spencer, Hannah, Joshua and Emma. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favourite charity would be appreciated.

Visitation is Thursday, April 26 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Complexe funéraire Desnoyers (1981 boulevard de Périgny, Chambly). Funeral services to take place on Friday, April 27 at 11 am, at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, 2000 avenue Bourgogne, Chambly.
